„Parasite“ Review

The new movie from director Bong Joon-Ho is the first south-korean movie which has been won the Palme d’Or in the Cannes Film Festival.

Many critics call it “the best film of the year”, and deservedly so!

It is very different than normally mainstream movies.

The movie doesn’t have a clear genre. It is a mix of drama, thriller, comedy and even horror.

The plot is about the family Kim, who live under very poor circumstances. Every member of the family is unemployed, although each one has their talents and skills.

But someday a former classmate of the son, Kim Ki-woo played by Choi Woo-shik, come to visit them and gives the son the opportunity to be the new private english tutor of the daughter of the rich family Park. And when he got in, he make sure that his hole family also work for the rich and gullible family Park and dump out the former staffs of the family Park.

It seems that the poor family Kim finally get a chance for a better life. But suddenly something happened, which change everything and make the seemingly comfortable life more difficult to be intended to be…

Bong Joon-Ho does a pretty good job on this movie. It is one of the greatest movies I ever saw in the last few years. The plot is really unpredictable and the main characters are nice written and understandable. The comedy elements and the timing of the music are well placed and it is very hilarious how the family Kim invade the family Park with their intrigues and how naive the member of the family Park are, especially the mother Mrs. Park, who are played by Cho Yeo-jeong.

Hope you like this little short review. 🙂 This is the first time, that I post something in English and I hope it is ok.
